International Beachcross quad bike racing took place on the beach to the west of Boscombe Pier.

New for 2016 the Classic Car Paddock  offered owners of  classic cars (registered before January 1976), to join fellow motor enthusiasts to pay and display their cars along Boscombe Seafront.

Back for a third year, one of the festival’s most popular attractions – the Monster Truck Arena – showcased four massive monster trucks.

Crowds were wowed by car-crushing and power demonstrations.

Matt Coulter, aka the Kangaroo Kid, one of the world’s most prolific stunt riders, bounced back into Bournemouth for a second year.

The Biggest Wheel in Bournemouth

Standing an impressive 33 metres tall, more than twice the height of Bournemouth Library, the Big Wheel offered spectacular panoramic vistas at a quieter pace. Each of the 27 gondolas rotated a full 360 degrees and were fitted with individual sound systems giving visitors, and indeed residents, information about the town/ guided tour of the views.

Monster Truck Rides – Bournemouth East Beach

With space for eight passengers, visitors had the opportunity to climb aboard a full size American monster truck for a thrilling ride that was definitely not for the faint-hearted. This year, there were two full-size monster trucks to choose from… and for kids and the young at heart there were the mini monster trucks to see.

The Demonstration Straight stretched along the length of the East Overcliff giving festival-goers a chance to line the course and watch bikes, karts, historic F1 (Saturday & Sunday), Le Mans, Touring, Rally and Supercars in action!

Returning for a second year the pop-up stunt arenas along East Overcliff Drive hosted a variety of thrilling displays and shows in between the demonstration runs. New for 2016 were motor bike stunt riders, and Paul Swift one of the UK’s top stunt drivers returned with some new precision tricks and spins in his Ford Focus.

A holding area for the demonstration straight cars and bikes and previously located in Bath Road South, the Paddock moved to its new location on the cliff top at the Boscombe end of East Overcliff Drive. Although limited access, there were opportunities to view the cars, watch the mechanics at work and, if you were lucky, talk to the drivers!

Savage Skills – Town Centre Square (Friday evening)

For one evening only, freestyle aerial cycling stunts were in the Square on Friday from 6 – 8.30pm. In between displays there were ‘have-a-go’ sessions for children who wanted to try freestyle riding for themselves.

Mentored by the Savage Skills team riders, visitors were able to get on a trials bike and navigate a safe skills course that catered for a wide range of abilities from a complete beginners to advanced cyclists. Visitors tried cornering and manoeuvering challenges, balance beams, see-saws and more.
